I reveal the PTSD experience, which resulted from the trauma of the Vietnam war and the cost of battle to me and fellow Hospital Corpsmen, Nurses, and Doctors. The cost is enormous and often spans decades. For some people, war and other traumatic events in our lives do not have an ending but rather continue as post trauma. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can be a never ending nightmare that goes on and on.
I changed names to protect privacy; therefore, FLASHBACK ... is historical fiction but the events mentioned in my book are based on facts. My description of the failed Studies and Observation Group (S.O.G.) mission to free American POWs known as "Operation Sunrise 1970" is based on real events, which include my service, as a Navy Corpsman (Medic) with a detachment of Marines in Vietnam.
My comrades-in-arms gave their lives but the mission was not successful; therefore, knowledge of "Sunrise" is not acknowledged by the powers that be but rather it has been said that there is "NO RECORD." ENJOY THE READ!!!
